Pedobear!

Today’s rant is a tribute to pedobear! All pictures used in the post will be of Mr. Bear. Why? Because pedobear is just that awesome!

Let me get on the soapbox for a moment to speak about an important subject in our country. The reproductive health bill. If you don’t know what it is a quick yahoo search should help you find it. Its filed under house bill number 5043. For the record I’m for the bill. I think its a good idea. Not only that, but I think the premise is so sound that I have difficulty perceiving how other people could be against it. However, there seems to be solid opposition to it, led by the catholic church. Which is why I’m particularly annoyed at them at the moment. They are being quite smug about it as well. I actually saw a priest on the news a month or so back basically saying “Don’t worry, the church always wins. Just watch.” Seriously? I know they have a stranglehold in this country which is why they can avoid taxes and get away with a lot of things, but to be that smug about it?

Let’s get to their counter arguments to the bill. First off they say that there are other countries with higher population density with more gross income than we have. While there are countries with lower population density with lower income. So obviously population is not a factor in the success of a nation.

Have you ever seen the Rock? I think he goes by the name of Dwayne Johnson nowadays. Do you remember the people’s eyebrow? Yea, that’s what I’m doing now. What does it matter what the other countries are doing? The fact is that we have more unemployed year after year. The standard of living is also dropping. Yet you still want to bring more people into it? Its also the height of stupidity to assume that population density is the only factor which determines a nation’s success. Their argument makes it sound as if the reproductive health bill promised prosperity just by reducing population. It is a contributing factor. Nothing else. Hey since population is such a non-factor according to the priests how about we double our population? Everything should be ok right? Do you have the people’s eyebrow on as well? I hope so.

Next we have the argument that it is oppressive to our religious beliefs. Basically they say that since we are a catholic country it would be oppressive to tell the populace to listen to “anti-catholic” politicians rather than the church. I actually love their justification. Contraception is not wrong because the church banned it, the church banned it because its wrong. Funnily enough they leave out the fact that the church interprets the bible and gives out the papal bulls and decrees that decide what is right or wrong. Using this logic the church has a blank check to impose anything they want on our country.

Given its source, I frankly believe that this statement deserves a big old eL.oh.eL. I mean seriously? This from the institution that started the inquisition? Supported slavery? Oppressed new scientific discoveries? Hell they even issued passports and other documents to help Nazi’s escape! (search the organization “Odessa”). They are the last organization which have any right to complain about oppressing other beliefs. If we only listened to the church and shut off any “anti-church” politicians then we would end up killing all the Muslims we could find. Oh wait. The world already did that in the crusades. Of course this is all ancient history, the church would never do it now! Right? Right? I actually find the idea itself offensive. Think about it. We aren’t a theocracy! We are a democracy, and one with constitutional provisions which specifically separate the church and state. The church may influence voters and even elected officials, and often does. But saying we automatically can’t do it because the church says so is idiotic and frankly is oppressive of the non-Catholics who live in this country.

Next we have the old argument that says this bill promotes promiscuity and erodes public morals. Somehow giving away free condoms will lead to an orgy of biblical proportions. See what I did there? It is a slippery slope argument. Giving away free condoms does not automatically lead to a wholesale sex orgy. Neither does it automatically lead to eroding public morals. How much does a condom cost? Five bucks? I’m sure even our poorest citizens could afford that. Everyone who wants to use condoms is already using them. All the bill wants to do is inform other people of all the possible alternatives. You know offer them a little free will (what God wants) instead of blindly following a religion (what God doesn’t want).

Last they say that this bill unfairly targets the poor. They don’t need contraception. They need education, jobs, etc. I’m sorry. Your wrong. Woot, I used the blog title. The poor do need education jobs and whatnot. But they also need to have less dependents. We have stats where we see that the minimum wage is not enough for a family of five. Well how about we reduce that family of five to four? Or god forbid three. Wouldn’t the minimum wage stretch further? Its obvious that you cannot take care of a big family with the minimum wage. Then why continue to let people have seven, eight, or more kids? But then they will say that the average family has three children nowadays as opposed to the seven from the seventies. We are doing better! Yet we are poorer. Again population is not the only barometer. Do they honestly believe that we only have one problem? That one magic bullet will solve everything? Of course it won’t . Rh bill is just one of the many things we need. Even the stats don’t tell the whole story. I would wager that the upper and mid income tiers are the ones having less children, while the lower income tiers are having the same amount or more. I don’t have anything against them but maybe those who are least financially capable of raising children shouldn’t have the most.

Of course we have to ask why? Why, when it is so obvious that we have too many children, would the catholic church want it? The answer is simple. They want lots of little kiddies running around. Which ties in with pedobear. You thought I just picked that for their pedophilia issues didn’t you? In the olden days, in Scotland I think, the catholic church wanted to encourage big families so much that the bishop would come to your home and baptize any baby over the seventh. People being simpler back then would then have plenty of children so that they would be able to meet the bishop. Again why would the church impose this misery upon people who couldn’t take care of the children financially? Well more babies means more little Catholics running around. More little Catholics means more victims for pedobear. Well they actually didn’t want that, but they did want more big Catholics running around. Which translates to more votes for their agenda. This is especially true now where other religions in our country such as Islam and Protestantism are growing. and can threaten their stranglehold.

Time to get off the soapbox now. Hey I know! I will leave you with one of those absurd statements that the anti- R.H. lobby usually uses to prove its point. Remember the church is like pedobear. They both want plenty of kids. Except pedobear gets mad when they turn eighteen. The church looks forward to it.
